LUIS BRACAMONTE:

Luis’s journey into fitness started early in life.  Born in Trujillo, Peru he became a multiple national swimming champion by age 8. He then went on to enjoy a successful career competing in several world class tournaments such as the Southamerican Championships of 1993, 1998 and 2000 and the Pan American Games of Winnipeg in 1999. A State of Illinois Champion in 1998, Luis also swam for the University of Illinois-Chicago where he was awarded a full-athletic scholarship and was a swim captain.

In 2001, he graduated from UIC with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and went on to became a full time fitness trainer and swim coach. Having being certified by several of the top organizations in the industry such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the National Academy of Sports Sciences, the International Youth Conditioning Association, the International society of Sports Nutrition, the American Council on Exercise, and the American Swim Coaches Association; Luis continuously attends workshops, seminars and symposiums to further his education.

Luis’s career highlights include  training Mayor League Soccer and Mexican National Team superstar Cuauhtemoc Blanco who become an instrumental piece in Mexico’s recent World Cup qualification. Luis has worked for the prestigious Spa at Trump as the Lead Trainer since its opening in March of 2008. At the Spa at Trump, Luis implemented a nutrition coaching program, taught daily private and group sessions and  ran wellness and nutrition seminars. Luis also worked as an Assistant Coach for the University of Illinois-Chicago’s D-I team as well as the Chicago Masters. Other companies that Luis has work with  include Unicus Fitness, Crunch Fitness, Wellfit Triathlon, Cityfront Healthclub  and Phenomenal Fitness.

Having presented for the Trujillo Chamber of Commerce and United States Triathlon, Luis has also collaborated with Fox Chicago, Foxhilites.com, NBC  and Chicago Amateur Athlete. He has also been a Lululemon Athletica Fitness Ambassador since October of 2007.

Luis is also a professional fire artist, an activity that allows him to personally explore all aspects of physical development such as strength, power, coordination, balance, conditioning, agility, rhythm, flexibility and mobility. This rare and complex  form of physical training combined with a deep understanding of functional anatomy and a lifetime of athletic activity  has allowed Luis to achieve a greater understanding of movement and the benefits that exercise can offer.

Luis’ fitness philosophy is that the sports we play and the training programs we follow are choices available to us, but physical activity in itself is necessary in order to live healthy and  fulfilling lives. Therefore, a training program can be tailored according to each individual  preferences ensuring that the journey is as rewarding and satisfying as  achieving the goal itself.
